Wedding

Sometimes it's really difficult to get a one-year visa in another country. Susie and Cornelio have had an especially difficult time getting their one-year visa to be in Bolivia. They were married in Belize about 14 years ago. In order to get a one-year visa, you must present a copy of your marriage certificate legalized by the Bolivian Consulate in the country of origin. It just so happens that there is no Bolivian consulate in Belize and the consulates in the nearest countries (Mexico and Costa Rica) didn't want to be helpful. They wouldn't legalize the document. The consulate in the States legalized the paper, but immigration here wouldn't accept the paper. As a last resort, they decided to get married in Bolivia so they would have a Bolivian marriage certificate. These are the pictures of their "wedding."

Though the wedding was a lot of fun for all of us, and the source of much laughter, it didn't really help them in the end. Now they have been in Santa Cruz for a little over a week and their paperwork is finally coming together. They can't say the visa process hasn't been fun!

I was there for their first wedding 14 years ago. They look just as happy and in love (if not more so now) as they did back then. What a great couple! Congratulations to my sister and Cornelio....I love you both.
